Ron is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and the University of California Hastings College of the Law. After completing his studies at Annapolis, he accepted a commission in the United States Marine Corp and served on active duty for seven years. He served in the infantry in Vietnam and later came a pilot flying single seat jet attack aircraft.

In law school Ron was selected as a member of the Thurston Society based on ranking in the top 5% of the class during the first year. He served as a member of the Hastings Law Journal for two years and upon graduation was granted membership in the Order of the Coif, a national honor society of law school graduates who rank in the top 10% of their graduating Class.

Ron’s aviation training and experience has suited him well in the litigation of private and commercial airplane crash cases. He has also litigated a wide variety of product liability claims involving industrial and consumer products; actions arising from medical malpractice; claims against insurance companies for bad faith withholding of coverage or benefits; and, a variety of general negligence actions.

In his over 30 years of practice, Mr. Wecht has handled a broad range of cases involving brain and spinal cord injuries, including traumatic brain injury, hypoxic brain injury, and brain damage resulting from infection, as well as quadriplegic and paraplegic injuries, some as the result of trauma and others caused by medical mishaps.

He is a member of many prestigious professional organizations, including the American Board of Trial Advocates, The San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association (where he served on the board of directors for five years), The Lawyer-Pilot’s Bar Association, and the Robert G.
